Summary of Dispute

Julie Brown, Elegant Touch Painting, gave me a quote for residential interior painting services. The quoted price was $2350.00 to include removing wallpaper from living room walls and old wallpaper on the bathroom walls to be painted. The days of the painting job, one of the painters pointed out to me more wallpaper they found on a wall in the bathroom near the toilet they were about to paint. I called Julie to let her know and she said it would be an additional $400. I reminded her during our conversation, that on June 5, 2023 when she quoted the price we agreed the proposal would include removing the wallpaper. She said "yes, I remember, and you will not be charged."

The day the job was done she brought the invoice with the remaining balance and she still added the additional $400 to remainder of the bill of $2300.00 and forgot to remove the initial $600 deposit I paid her at the beginning of the job. She corrected the invoice and removed the $600. I told her she did not treat me fair on the $400 additional charge. She tried to compare painting job costs to plumbing job costs. The total cost of the service was $2,750. However the $400 additional charge was never resolved. As a customer, I felt I was right to dispute the additional charge. I told her I would never use her company again and that I was turning her company over to the Better Business Bureau. That is when she got upset took the check from me and walked through the front door and slammed the door shut. A few days after the job was done. I noticed a few mistakes that needed correcting.
